WHO WE ARE
We are the men and women of the Potomac Boat Club’s Potomac Scullers Team. We are a racing team made up of experienced scullers who strive to place competitively at national-level regattas. We welcome both open aged and masters athletes.
We train together at 5:30 AM Monday-Saturday year-round and compete in Open and Masters events at regattas in the summer and fall. Our comprehensive training program includes rowing on the water (no matter the season), erging when we can’t get on the water or for periodic testing, lifting, core and stretching together.

- Schuylkill Navy: Gold in the Open Women’s Open 4x and Lightweight Masters Men’s 1x
- Independence Day Regatta: Gold in the Lightweight Open and Masters Men’s 1x
- Rowfest: Gold in the Mixed Masters 2x and 4x
- Head of the Charles: 4th and 5th in Mixed 4x and 5th in Masters Women’s 2x
- Head of the Occoquan: Gold in the Open Women’s 2x, Open Mixed 2x, and Open Mixed 4x

TEAM STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS
Each candidate is evaluated by the coach, in consultation with the captains, for fitness, technique, and boat-handling ability on a case-by-case basis with age/racing category taken into account. Following are requirements for team membership:
- Commitment to racing sculling events for PBC at three regattas per season
- Commitment to implementing the training plan and technical feedback/changes from the coach
- Commitment to full-time training–with an expectation of a minimum 3 days/week participation in training sessions with the team and following the training plan on your own on days when you cannot train with the team.
- Necessary absences for work travel, illness, injury, family commitments and the like excepted
- Participation in team workdays and other team, PBC Race Committee, or PBC volunteer activities
- Willingness to row in team boats at the direction of the coach, according to seasonal racing priorities and boatings that help keep the group together on the water

- Minimum Requirements for Team Membership: Prior sculling experience required. Race experience required. (Sculling race experience and proficiency in a 1x preferred.) Commitment to racing (not just training) for PBC required.
