Learn more about what is going on at PBC. Hear about our plans for the future. Set a course for the way forward–and vote!
There are many reasons to come to the Annual Meeting, but none so important as electing new Board members and Club Officers.
If you believe that you can represent your fellow members, provide balance and understanding of different viewpoints, improve the Club, and have the energy and passion to devote to this responsibility, we encourage you to give serious consideration to running for a seat on the Board of Governors. Interested parties, please send [email protected] a statement about why you would like to be considered for this opportunity along with a photo for publication on the PBC website.
For background, Potomac Boat Club has a 9-person Board of Governors that is the governing body of PBC. The Board is a collaborative body and is an all-volunteer position for our non-profit organization. Every year, PBC holds elections for three Governors’ seats. Each Governor elected serves for a three-year term. After we have the newly elected Board, the senior membership of the Club will also elect Club Officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary), each to a one-year term.
As a reminder, only senior members in good standing and who attend the Annual Meeting in person, may vote. You must be current on all dues and fees payments. There is only one vote per membership. (Family members enjoy all the privileges of the primary senior member, except the right to vote). No proxies are allowed.
At this meeting, we will also hear a presentation on a proposed e-voting initiative.
Finally, enjoy the company of fellow Club members! Please come early and partake in our social hour. Your friendly Social Committee will welcome all with oysters, champagne, and more. We will be christening a new Club Rowing Committee hull and posing for our annual Club photo on the dock too.
