PBC Board Elections – April 9

As you may know, we have a 9-person Board that is the governing body of PBC.  Three board members are elected every year, each for a three-year term.

So why become a Board member?  If you have a belief that you can improve the Club, and have the time, energy and passion to devote, you should give it serious consideration.  This is your chance to really ‘Bleed Red’!  The Board is a collaborative body; one useful thing learned by sitting on a Board, particularly a non-profit Board of an all-volunteer organization, is the need for balance and understanding of different viewpoints. Our governing documents provide that only senior members in good standing (i.e., are current on all dues and fees payments), and who attend the Annual Meeting in person, may vote. PBC Holiday Party, Sunday (12/4)

Just a few more days until the PBC holiday party! Santa’s elves have been hard at work planning the festivities for you and your family to enjoy.

Potomac Boat Club Holiday Party
Sunday, December 4th
1 – 4 pm ET

Activities: Eggnog toasting, chuckling with friends new and old, cookie decorating, a special appearance by Santa and his reindeer, and a round or two of merry caroling.

Attire: Ugly sweaters (recommended), traditional holiday garb, PBC red, etc.

What to Bring: unwrapped toy donation for Toys for Tots

Vermillion Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Challenge

Many of you remember Steve Vermillion who contributed so much to Potomac Boat Club as our House Chair, as a member of the Men’s Sweep Team, and as a friend. In honor of Steve who passed away from Acute Myeloid Leukemia 3 years ago, his son Joe has launched a campaign to raise $50,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student of the Year Challenge. 
Make a real difference in the lives of people like Steve with your support. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the largest contributor to blood cancer research in the nation—research that helps develop drugs and other vital support for the 1.2 million Americans who are fighting or in remission from blood cancers.

Row the Stampfli 24x at PBC

Row in the World’s Longest Rowing Shell – 24 Scullers and a Cox

Potomac Boat Club invites you to join in a decidedly unique experience. Row in the world famous Stampfli “Red Express” 24x during its US tour stop at PBC for the 35th Charlie Butt Scullers’ Head of the Potomac on Sunday, September 27.

Sign up for an individual seat or enter your line-up. You can choose from one of two flights meeting promptly at 5:00 PM and at 6:00 PM on PBC’s dock. The organizer will contact you with specifics about line-ups once sign-ups are in.

PBC also offers non-ticketed events surrounding this spectacular Swiss innovation.

You are cordially invited to the Potomac Boat Club Strawberry Brunch on Saturday, June 6th, 9:30 a.m. Reservations are required. Please RSVP no later than Wednesday, June 3.
Please join us at the annual Potomac Boat Club Strawberry Brunch, co-hosted by the Social Committee and Men’s Masters Sweep Team. This is our premier event of the season–an occasion to share with family and friends.
We welcome you and your guests to join us for a spectacular morning filled with laughter, and smiles. Prepare to enjoy:

PBC Represents at Sarasota Invitational Regatta

PBC athletes brought home the bling from the first regatta of the season on the Club’s racing calendar. Six PBC athletes raced at the Sarasota Invitational Regatta on February 23, 2014, at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida. They competed in 8 events and won 4 gold medals, 3 silvers, and a bronze. Congratulations to Phil Bogden, Emmanuel Caudron, Bill Cox, Peter Folger, Nick Holland, and Bill Kostoff, who represented!
